About Me

Connie with kettlebell and fall foliage

Hi, I am Connie (Hsiang-Yun) Lee L.Ac., the founder of Primal Tao Movement in Lynnwood, Washington--just north of Seattle.

I am a lifelong student of health and wellness, with a host of degrees and certifications to show for it. I have a Master's degree in Acupuncture and a Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN).  I am also a StrongFirst SFG kettlebell instructor, an RYT 200 yoga teacher, a Yoga Tune Up instructor, a restorative movement specialist, a certified Ground Force Method instructor, and a fascia decompression therapist. Beyond that, I’ve studied another dozen or so different approaches to functional movement and fitness. I am also a certified Acupoint Injection Therapist. Oh, and I’m also working on a graduate certificate in Traditional Chinese Herbology to complement the Masters in Acupuncture.

Why do I do it? Because my passion is to help you move forward from whatever physical limitations have you stuck in your life--using whatever method is going to work best.

Background

I grew up in Taiwan, where I enjoyed an active childhood. I played basketball and badminton in school, and ran as well. My family was always going hiking in the mountains around Taipei, and I still love to get out on a mountain.

I went into Nursing with the intention of helping people. After I graduated and started working, however, I realized it was not my calling, but the seeds of my passion for human anatomy and physiology were planted.

Years later, I found other ways to help people. It started when, well into my yoga teacher training, I sustained shoulder and hip injuries that lasted for months. At the same time, even though I thought I was pretty healthy compared to the average person, I was starting to feel the “age thing” creeping up on me as I entered my 40s. And then I developed heel spurs that had me moving around like an eighty year old woman for most of a year.

I was determined to experience vibrant health. In my quest for healing, I dove into other modalities. I learned about the world of human biomechanics.  Once I learned how, it took two weeks of changing my posture and gait for my heel spurs to melt away. I felt like I was coming back to life.

I ditched my shoes and began to walk, hike, and move barefoot as much as possible. To this day, I’m free from foot and knee pain. I started training with kettlebells, too, which helped me heal my hip injuries from yoga and also built strength, endurance, and resiliency.

I began to eat more cleanly, as nature intended, and that helped my mental state tremendously.

The more I learned about biomechanics, nutrition, fitness, and health, the more excited I got about learning more. I discovered orthopedic cupping, and learned how it can benefit fascia and soft tissue to improve mobility and speed healing.

Eventually I obtained a Master’s degree in Acupuncture (from Middle Way Acupuncture Institute), and when that wasn’t enough, added a second program in Chinese herbology. After that, adding Acupoint Injection Therapy training seemed a natural extension to round out the therapeutic approaches I can offer.

Why do I do it? Because my passion is to help you move forward from whatever physical limitations have you stuck in your life--using whatever method is going to work best.

Sharing What I've Learned

I started on this journey out of a desire to to recover from my own injuries and trauma. I was determined to experience vibrant health. As I progressed, I found I wanted to share the lessons that I learned along the way so that others could benefit just as I have.

I use all of these tools and methods (and more) in my work to help my clients move forward from wherever they are and overcome whatever is holding them back, so that they can move more freely and live life more fully.
